So this is life sitting up...

Luke is getting closer to being able to sit up by himself but while he perfects that, he is loving being propped up on the couch enjoying a nice warm fire at the ranch.

Our First Christmas!!

We had such a fun Christmas morning enjoying our Christmas Chilaquiles and opening gifts in front of our Christmas tree - which is in the kitchen! Luke got so many fun presents including a swing for outside, poetry from Shel Silverstein, rattles, clothes, and so much more. Ben spoiled me with a gorgeous pendant that he designed. I will have to post it soon. Ben was peaches and cream happy with his assortment of Top Gear seasons - the BBC car program, a new Playstation game, clothes and sweet lovin with his little family. How fun! Even little Dakota loved his treats from Santa - Happy Hips (always healthy).

Our little man slept for most of the morning but he was up and cheery to see what Santa brought. After enjoying our Tex Mex Christmas bfast, we headed over to my parents for Christmas day festivities. With the entire family there (minus Joe - although he did get to call that night!), it was a fun time playing games, eating like kings, and enjoying family time.

Now it's off to A Tuna Christmas with both my fam and Ben's. And then...the ranch with Ben's familia until New Years!! Yay.

Lil Christmas Photo Shoot

No matter how many times I try to have a photo shoot with little Luke, he seems to be Mr. Carl Cranky... As soon as we are done trying, he is Cool Hand Luke. Oh well, such is life. Although my dear friend Beth took some Christmas pics of Luke and she got some PRECIOUS shots.

At first, we went for the SILENT NIGHT themed shots.

Luke was napping and we gently tried to move him in his little pea pod to the wooden bowl. It worked for a while but soon we got this look...

He figured us out quickly. But with some coaxing (in the form of mom's milk), we were ready for more. Who knew how precious Santa's littlest reindeer would be... and that he would be a TANNER!

After our reindeer shots, we decided to go for the Santa hat - My fav! And they turned out adorable! Without spoiling our Christmas cards, I will show you one of our parting shots... Again, we got that serious, concerned look that was soon followed with crying. Nevertheless, who can't love this little Santa!

So, we had a great time on our Christmas shoot - at 2 months old! Next it's off to the REAL Santa shots at the mall. This is due to be quite the adventure...

Luke Celebrates with his grandmother as she gets her MFA!

Last night, Luke, my mother (Luke's Gigi) and I went to Corpus for a very special occasion. Luke's grandmother, Daryl Hause Tanner, celebrated the exhibition of her MFA work and hosted a grand dinner party. It was a fabulous time. The exhibition, called A Sense of Place, was incredible and every detail perfectly thought out. Daryl used her trip to Washington State as inspiration for the majority of her artwork. The colors used in most of her work were rich, bold yellows, reds, deep pinks, greens, etc... The gallery was filled with these colors - champagne was served in cute corresponding glasses with bright glow sticks in the stems. Music and food were perfect touches to the evening. With a full house of friends, family and community artists supporting Daryl, it was quite the event. Luke attended for about 45 minutes in his precious little Christmas outfit. What an evening!

Luke - 2 months old!

Yesterday, on Pearl Harbor Day, Luke reached his 2 month birthday! (His eyes look a little too black but that is the red eye fix app. He really has deep blue/grey eyes.)

I have to say 2 months has been better than the first month - I am getting the hang of it. Plus, he is smiling and responding to us which makes everything better.

Today I have been so excited that my dear friend Beth is taking photos of little Luke! I gave the little guy a bath this morning - which is a guaranteed happy time! So, here is the Friday Fun Luke Pic...

We had a great photo session - a few fussy periods but we made it through and she got some great shots. Excited to see the results! Happy Friday all!

Sweet Home Alabama - such a classic!

If there is a southern love story in my generation to be acknowledged, Sweet Home Alabama should be at the top - if not #2. I seriously watch that movie (or at least have it playing) 3 -4 times a week - for 2 years running! I am not joking. Reese Witherspoon is so precious and fiesty and complicated in this movie. I think the reason so me and so many of my friends love this movie (and our mom's) must be because we see a bit of ourselves in 'Melanie.' We are all a bit complicated, sassy, fiesty, southern and well-meaning yet accidentally screw things up from time to time trying to be someone we are not. Maybe not to the extreme she does but to a lesser extent. What I adore about this movie is that she is surrounded by and chooses to surround herself (again - finally after trying to ignore her hometown peeps) with people who love her for all her complicated-ness and crazy mistakes. Anyways... I just love this movie and cannot get enough of it. And we are all thankful for the famous line in this movie, "You have a baby... in a bar." My sarcastic response vocabulary is now complete...
