Breaking News!

Today is the start of something new.

A new era has arrived in the Tanner household.

Benjamin Jones Tanner has FINALLY agreed to let me have a "new" car. That's right people - I will be getting a car NO OLDER than 2005. (You hear that Spencer?!) And, it won't be a diesel, souped up, VW turbo wagon with extra poof - or anything "creative" like that. No, a normal SUV with room for Luke and little Caroline plus some. I cannot tell you the excitement I feel over this news!

Style File...

Okay - I went to a seminar recently and the speaker mentioned "googling" yourself periodically to check what is out there. Not that I am worried about shadyness but I was curious... had not checked my web status lately... I found this:

This was from the opening night of Barney's Scottsdale (right before I got pregnant with Luke - so I guess it was around Christmas 2 years ago...) The agency I worked for received a significant donation from Barney's and a few of the staff were invited to attend. I pulled out a fabulous vintage dress of my grandmother's - who would have a dress like mine!?!?! (Since it was definitely a "who is wearing what" night...) So, I made the Phoenix style file, which is fun, but - the caption - seriously? If you decide to put me on the page, at least glamourize it a bit...

My favorite lil dress site! Not Too Shabby... in my book!

One of my favorite blog finds is http://www.shabbyapple.com/. They are an online-only dress boutique selling women’s dresses, casual dresses, skirts, and women’s apparel. Their dresses are highly fashionable and ever changing! They have so many lines - themed lines - like Amalfi Coast, The Berkshires, etc... They even have a maternity line. (And they look great with a pair of fibi & clo sandals! www.fibiandclo.com)

Use the code "IVY" and you receive 15% off plus they have a special for free shipping right now. http://www.shabbyapple.com/

Me and the Roo!

My sweet husband works so hard, and I know that even know it is challenging for us with his travel schedule - it is really tough for him also. Sometimes I lose sight of that. Sometimes he travels to 3 cities/week and is constantly on the road, up early, in airports late - not fun. Thankfully he actually enjoys the work - so that helps him get through the week. We miss him so much and look forward to our precious time together with him.

Each week he asks me to send him some photos of me and little Luke - who he calls Roo - short for Roonie - which is short for Muncharoonie. (Don't even ask me how or where this nickname came from but it fits...) I try to send him some each week. Here is today's pic - a particularly good one b/c Luke is actually looking.

Whether your husband travels for work, works late late hours, or just is "on call" to work 24/7 - work/life balance can be tough. I look at it in this way... I am very attracted to ambitious people - guess that is because I was raised with very ambitious parents and grandparents. Ambitious people are usually hard-working and tend to be the leaders in the their industry - in my opinion. With that, comes the longer hours, challenging work schedules, etc... Extreme ambition can be a double-edged sword at times... but in the end I would not want to be with a person who is happy just settling for mediocracy. Ben is so ambitious, hard-working and successful at his work. I appreciate that about him so much- even if I struggle with his work schedule at times (particularly the weeks I only see him for 36 hours!)

Thankfully I have a hubby who LOVES his family and wants to spend every free minute of his ambitious self with us. Love you baby! Keep up all the hard work. We love and appreciate you.

Fun unique gift from husband - Birchbox Subscription

A few days ago, Ben surprised me with a very unique and fun gift! A subscription to Birchbox!

Birchbox is basically a monthly subscription service for luxury/deluxe beauty samples. For $10 a month, you receive 4-5 deluxe samples plus a gift - like a makeup brush or similar goodie. These are very generous samples and are high-end brands. I do not know where Ben heard about this site, but how fun to try this out - and that he thought to get it for me!

Once you subscribe, you take a questionnaire regarding your skin type, etc... They tailor samples to your needs and likes.

Check it out: www.birchbox.com

My favorite little guy turns 1!

This Sunday, with about 30 close family and friends, we celebrated our precious son's first birthday! What a wonderful time it was! With a ball theme, we had balls everywhere! On the floor, in a mini pool, on tables,... you name it. His favorite - the pool of little balls and his new slide! What a special day. All the grandparents came and even his two living great grandparents came.
